Fighter Pilots and News Reels
Back in the day . . .Use to be News Reels were a common medium for people to find out what was going on around the world. These News Reels were normally shown in movie theaters along with the previews, a cartoon or two and possibly a short serial film. Aviation was still a major story in these News Reels. Folks were still awed by the science and capability of flight, even into the early jet age, as this News Reel video shows.
Some of the presentation seems rather corny. Hey, new jets here in Europe, let’s hold this newspaper together and watch. This new air-to-air missile uses the new technology of “electronics.” Well, maybe so, but Raptor and Typhoon claims may sound equally trite in forty to fifty years. Regardless, these old News Reels are kickass fun to watch.
