Cost of Gas Around the World

The FU Economics Department has been plugging along trying to solve our current energy crisis.  We’ve come up with some unique methods to cope with rising gas prices both in our country and overseas.  Travelling around the world this past year I’ve discovered that in some cases we don’t have it all that bad here in the USA, yet (emphasis on yet).  Here’s some snap shots of gas prices in other countries that might surprise you, our input if we “Would” or “Wouldn’t” recommend a visit to those countries, and some suggested activities to negate the cost of getting around.  So here goes:

Oslo, Norway

FU Recommendations – Bring a bottle of Jack Daniels (or 2) and announce in the local drinking establishment “Girls, the parties in my room.”  A bottle of Jack goes for well over $100 US in Norway, so it just may work.  But hey, if you don’t like looking at beautiful blond haired/blue eyed women who speak English and are extremely friendly, you may want to pass.

Hong Kong

FU Recommended Activities – Don’t worry about the gas, take a cab to a bar called “Sticky Fingers” (No- Not Stinky Fingers) and enjoy the scenery and awesome live music.

FU Recommended Activities – The FU faculty recently completed a trip to Belgium to meet one of our artists, “Booly.”  Getting a picture in front of the pissing boy is a must do.  Try to get some sleep prior to the nights “drink-o-rama”, especially if Rowdy has a camera.

FU Recommended Activities:  No worries about the fuel prices mate.  Go to the Rocks and grab yourself a tinny of piss.  My favourites are the “Orient Hotel” Bar and “Jackson’s” on George Street.  Jackson’s has five floors of bars, not to be confused with the “four floors of whores” in Singapore.
