Letter From The Front
Hello from Afghanistan!! As the current FU Dean of Destruction, I’m writing from a sunny location in support of our troops on the ground. While I was starting to write this blog, I realized the title is all screwed up. I’m not at “the front”. I’m at a base that is relatively well protected and the front is NO WHERE DEFINED. The men on the ground out where the lead meets the road are at what I would consider the front in this war.
I saw a sign posted at ops when I got here that stated correctly: “The mission is all about our nineteen year olds carrying a gun… everyone else is just support”. Truer words have never been written. Those young folks are our “greatest generation” and we, as a society should bend our knees daily and thank God that we have folks that are willing, in this age of complacency, to continue the tradition of doing what is right for our country and our way of life. I will do ANYTHING I can to protect and honor these few as they carry the load for our nation.

As with the other times I’ve deployed here and Iraq, I’ve attended several “Fallen Comrade” ceremonies. I have a huge hole in my heart for the young soldiers who I watch being carried away to their final destination. I have no words appropriate enough to express my grief and appreciation for their sacrifice. We owe them and their families more than we can give.
The next time you see a protester, realize that these young people gave their lives for their right to act like jackasses. While they have the constitution behind them and I in no way begrudge them that right. I also have the right to detest their uninformed and cowardice ways when it comes to the absolute truth of what we are fighting for. Take the time to ask the idiot if he or she realizes what is at stake in this war and if they can do anything other than regurgitate the news that advocates NOTHING is worth fighting for. I’ve heard all of their arguments and none of them make sense. I’ve lost all patience with their bitching and wish they would just say thank you to our underpaid and over-worked heroes of this great nation.
Thanks for your constant readership of our site. I’m very grateful to the great Americans that keep writing in to support our cause at FU and to keep us honest in our content and form. We think that this site is needed to pass on our point of view. We deal in humor most of the time but hopefully, the message gets through. Take care and I’m looking forward to my return to the land of the big BX. Out.
