National Pride and Patriotism

If you’re not for it, you’re part of the f**king problem!
I, like everyone else in America sans Native Americans, am the prodigal son of a proud immigrant. My ancestors immigrated to America from Germany because they could carve out a better future for the family in the United States of America.
After arriving in their new country, they migrated to the Midwest, e.g., Kansas to be exact, and established a homestead. My great, great, grandfather was so proud to be an American citizen vice a German citizen that he forbade his children from speaking German. He insisted instead that they learn and speak English because it was the language of their new home.
He insisted that they embrace their new country’s patriotic ideals because of the vast opportunity that existed for him and his family. He was proud to be an American even though he was born in and emigrated from a different country.
He embraced and embodied national pride and patriotism in his new country.
So, the burning question I have is, “Why is it so f**king hard for others to embrace and embody national pride and patriotism?” I don’t get it.
A recent example of this happened recently in Denver, CO. Watch the video below, and ask yourself, “What the f**k over?”
I only have two words for this woman, “Native Americans.” African Americans currently enjoy more opportunities for economic and social advancement in this country than any other minority group. So, my advice to her and those who think like her is, “F**king get over it.”
I recommend for her to embrace national pride and patriotism in the very country that has given her and other minorities like her so much opportunity. It isn’t a Black Thing, a Hispanic Thing, a White Thing, or whatever. It’s an American Thing!
Another example of this lack of reverence occurred in Reno, NV where a Mexican bar flew a Mexican flag over the American flag – a federal offense. Jim Brossard, an Army Vet, decided to take matters into his own hands by using his Iraqi Freedom K-Bar to cut the Mexican flag down.
Personally, I would’ve cut down the Mexican flag and burned it, and then raised the American flag back to the top of the flag pole where it deservedly belongs.
As John Wayne succinctly put it, “Life is hard; it’s harder when you’re stupid.” So, if you want to be an American, fine. Embrace national pride and patriotism. If you don’t, then f**king leave – don’t go away mad, just go away.
This is the humble view of a proud and patriotic German American.
