One More Gomer
Here's another old classic from Bellmouth and the Intakes. I had put some video from the GU with the song years ago. You will notice videos of both US and ROKAF F-4E's from Taegu in the early 80's. The song was written in the hootch after many beers and tells about the history of the 497th TFS "Night Owls" from days in SEA and then goes on to the"Hooters"
as we called the squadron in the 80s at the GU. Fighting the "evil communist empires" out to ruin the world was the theme of the day, and I'm not so sure a little of the attitude would be so bad today. For those not familiar term "Gomer" it was an endearing term referring to an adversary pilot in the North Korean Air Force. I suppose in our kinder gentler world there's no need to worry about the evil of communism anymore---is there?
ONE MORE GOMER DIED TODAY
(Tune - One Tin Soldier)
Listen, Hooters, to a story that was written long ago,
About the Night Owls up in Thailand, and the missions that they flew.
Fragged to go up to Hanoi, in their darkness they did fly,
Dropped their napalm on the convoys, watched the Commies scream and die.
Chorus
Go ahead and strafe a Commie, go ahead and waste a Red.
Do it in the name of freedom, you can stack 'em up when they're dead.
There won't be any Commies breathin' come the Judgment Day,
On the bloody morning after, One more Gomer died today!
Now the Hooters fly from Taegu, Fighting in their F-4E's
Lead the Juvats to their targets, up above the DMZ
Armed with Sparrows, Heaters ready, Kim Il Sung knows we're the best
And if that asshole ever doubts us, Come on down and press to test!
(Chorus)
"Shit Hot, F--kin A, Bob Hope, Hooters!"
