Phabulous Phantom

Posted by Jolly on December 21, 2016

This Phantom video has some awesome old footage to music provided by Creed and is kicksass. For those of us who have had the honor and privilege of strapping a Phantom on our backs:

"Here's to us and those like us, damn few of us left!"

From Joe Lee:

Jolly,
Thanks for the Awesome F-4 footage!!!
Familiar faces and smoke-draggin' memories of the Rhino.
Meanest looking war bird I ever saw.
More than a woody - a "Kunsan Blue-Steeler".

Jolly,
I was lucky enough to fly the A-10, F-4, and F-16 in my career. The Phantom was a classic warbird like the Mustang. Thanks for the great video.

Got this from Robert:

In Vietnam, I flew the F-8 Crusader, out of Danang. Later, as a Marine version of Top Gun (MAWTUPAC), I flew these for 3 glorious years. Thank you VERY MUCH for sending this. Do you have anything at all like this on the F-8 Crusader? If you do, I would LOVE to see it.

Watching the video made me smile. Great memories. Lowest low level navigation training we ever did was in the Phillipines. Came back with leaves in the sidewinder racks. I think the government ought to start a few squadrons of old guy Phantom units. My wife would sign me up in a heartbeat.

Seeing Robin Olds' smiling face brought a tear to this aging F-4 driver's eye. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Jolly. I'll be showing this to my father Larry Littlefield when i seen him this weekend. Great footage and even better memories of these old but bold birds from growing up around them.

UFF-DAH!
It just doesn't seem right to break one's heart so close to Christmas but we all knew it had to happen one day; even the Luftwaffe retired their "F" models a while back. I fired my first "new" AIM-9P at a Deuce from a hardwing "D" model, wondering only moments later when the bird I was riding in that day would meet the same fate. Hell, now they've even started converting my follow-on bird, the Viper, into targets: IS THERE NO JUSTICE ANYMORE? ;^)

Pharewell, my Phamous Phriend Phorever...
