The Theology Department at Fighter Pilot University is always looking for ways to improve the lives of our Faith based students and alumni. There are many very devout FU students and alumni that have inquired about what will happen to their pets on the day of deliverance. Fear no more gentle souls. Our Theology Department head, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate* has found the answer to your concerns.

*Awarded for reflective thoughts on how wonderful the world would be if we could do just one big group hug.

This an almost unbelievable source site that deals with just about every imaginable issue concerning the Vietnam war. Of course, here at Fighter Pilot University, our main interest is in the fighter and attack aspects of that war and Vietnam War Resources has plenty of information on that. The site is a gigantic list of links that will take you to locations on the Internet that pertain to the subject that you click on. A few of the links no longer work but with something this large that is certainly understandable. However, you could easily spend days on this site.Take a look.

Fighter pilots have to train their minds to stay sharp and alert even when things are dull and mundane. Often times a fighter pilot will find himself in situations that are down right boring; ocean crossings, orbiting in a kill box, sitting cockpit alert. Because of that fighter pilots are able to amuse themselves with simple things. They can chuckle for quite some time about a joke they heard months ago. They can occupy themselves for hours with thoughts of their own great achievements, and if not enough exist, they have the ability to embellish even ordinary daily accomplishments into hero level endeavors.

Fighter Pilots Love Movies

Like most people fighter pilots love a good movie. When fighter pilots are deployed for extended periods, movies are often one of the few escapes from the daily grind. Some of these deployed locations will have huge movie libraries that continue to grow asy previous squadrons leave behind their CD's. There is one issue with movies though, everyone's seen a movie where they didn't like the ending. Now there's an answer to that problem.

It's called How It Should Have Ended. Their web site is OK but the concept is kickass funny. It appears that they are somewhat associated with YouTube and once on the HISHE site it's easier to click on the YouTube icon on the left to get a listing of the movies they've worked over. There's How Brave Heart Should Have Ended, How Texas Chainsaw Massacre Should Have Ended, How Men In Black Should Have Ended and much more. Their site shows which movie they're working on now, which happens to be Terminator.

Since Superman is the closest thing in the fictional world that there is to a fighter pilot, we thought this video was the best one to show you here. How Super Man Should Have Ended.

Air Force Blues Comics

Air Force Blues is one of our favorite web sites. These comics poke fun at just about everything in the United States Air Force and a particular favorite for these jabs is the fighter pilot. One of the on going characters is Lt. Ken “Barbie” Dahl, an F-15C fighter pilot, a much beloved target for general ribbing, with the 809th Raging Peckers. Austin May is the creator of Air Force Blues and he has the fighter pilot down pretty well; the swagger, the arrogance and the near universal distain of any one that’s not a fighter pilot. Plus, the comics make good fighter pilot reading, not too challenging and they should get most of the jokes. Here at FU we think Air Force Blues kicksass!!!

Where's the Doofer Book?

What the hell happened to squadron doofer books? In my first fighter squadron it was right on the ops desk, but that was in the early 80’s at the Gu. By the time I got back to PACAF in the late 80’s, the doofer book was sequestered to the bar. My first operational tour in ACC was not until the late 90’s, and by then the damn doofer book was in a secure area under lock and key. The doofer book had fallen victim to the dreaded politically correct Air Force. WTFO?

The doofer book has been an important part of any fighter squadron I’ve ever been in. It was a place where even a second lieutenant could abuse the squadron commander for general buffoonery. It’s a sacred book where funny stories are told, pilots poke fun at other pilots, and call signs are earned. Most squadron doofer book ROE required you be a Mission Ready (MR) fighter pilot with a NSTCS (No Shit Tactical Call Sign) to make an entry. All entries had to be dated and signed.

Thanks to an FU Alumnus, Beak, we were recently turned on to a great web site that is a virtual doofer book on line. It was designed by Spike, a Hog driver turned A-word pilot, and is located at www.dooferbook.com. He built the sight to help old bros reconnect and he has put some really funny stuff on it. In the tradition of the squadron doofer book, it’s a place where we can expose "blatant buffoonery, supreme idiocy and indefensible douchery all over the world." It’s well worth your time to check out the site and start a profile and track down old squadron mates. Hey with a word like “douchery” for a lead in, it’s got to kick ass!

Incredible Adventures

When we’re out and about we are continuously running into people that say, “Man, I wish I could get a ride in a fighter jet!” With out a lot of strings, that’s pretty tough to accomplish unless you’ve got the time for a year of pilot training, three months of fighter lead-in and another six months of full-up fighter training. Oh yeah, to do it in the US military, it’ll also cost you ten years of your life after initial pilot training. Pretty pricey, unless you’re not doing anything else..

Or you can go to Incredible Adventures. These guys can set you up with all kinds of amazing activities and if your dream is to fly in a jet fighter for once in your life or do it again, once last time, for you aged fighter pilots, they have an assortment of kickass opportunities. You can hop into a Czechoslovakian L-39 Albatros, one of the most popular jet fighter trainers in the world. They offer a sortie in the English Lightning, one of the way cool looking fighters with an over-under, two-engine configuration, that will take you to the very edge of space. At the opposite extreme you can get a screaming, low altitude ride in a British Buccaneer. If you want to step up big time, you can even strap on a Russian MiG-29.

So now you might be saying, “What’s the price tag?” Well, it’s a lot less than ten plus years of your life. Here at Fighter Pilot University we say you don’t have to be an aviator to be a fighter pilot. It’s an attitude, a confidence, a swagger. Being fighter pilots ourselves, we know all of you have smokin’ hot wives, girlfriends and for the anointed ones dare we say both, and we know they deserve the freshest, hottest gear available to show off their assets – let them breath!

GotMYLF was founded by two women, <Loree Bischoff and Shannon Hervey>, both from Cave Creek, AZ. For the Playboy aficionados, you will recognize Lori as one of the ‘Real Desperate
Housewives’ featured in the May 2005 issue.

So, what is a MYLF you may ask? And no, it doesn’t mean what the “I” version means.

MYLF literally means Make Your Life Fun. Loree states that; “after all, isn’t that what most moms strive to do? Fighter Pilot Songs

Fighter pilots singing fighter pilot songs in the squadron bar or Officer's Club on Friday night seems to be a dying talent. A lot of young guys couldn't sing a song if their life depended on it. That's why we have our Songs section under NOTB. We're trying to enhance this camaraderie building skill by promoting old and new fighter pilot songs.

Two of our favorite web sites include two of our favorite fighter pilot performers.

Dick Jonas lots of favorites from World War II to the present.

Dos Gringos plenty of new original works with some of the old standards thrown in.

One of our favorite web sites is History.com for a number of reasons. Fighter pilots are very inquisitive people and most are students of history to one extent or another, especially when it comes to the history of warfare and the development of air combat. Here in the US, on cable/satellite TV, we’ve got the History Channel. It has all the kinds of programming that fighter pilots enjoy. One of the very best programs on the History Channel is Dogfights, an awesome computer generated animation of various air combat engagements that have occurred during and since World War I.

Beyond their television programming, the History Channel has a great web site, History.com. In addition to all the history stuff, what we really like is the expanded information, under the Games button, based on Dogfights. That information includes a history of dogfighting, glossary of terms, Dogfights: The Game and much more. It’s also the place where you can purchase DVD’s of the series in case you don’t get the History Channel where ever you might be..

Of course, we’re sure this puts your view of fighter pilots in a whole new light. Not just the superior warrior and aviator most people are familiar with but also an eclectic, intelligent student of history.
