Les Ventes, France
We have taken our fair share of shots at the French here at FU. After watching this, I think you will agree that there are many in France that still honor the sacrifices made by so few for so many to be Free. The town of Les Ventes, France, still has memorials three times each year to commemorate the sacrifices of patriots who freed their town after D-Day.
This video is very touching and shows how the town
of Les Ventes still honors the memory of one American thought to be MIA by his widow until several years ago. It’s sad that our own government did so little to provide the status of this American to his widow. 1Lt Billie Harris, USAAF, was a P-51 pilot with the 355th Fighter Squadron who crashed near the town of Les Ventes on 17 July 1944. My wife and I plan to visit Normandy this fall, so we will be sure to find the town of Les Ventes and thank the residents for their friendship, loyalty, and support.
